- Performs general litter control, landscaping, and maintenance duties on landfill sites, facilities, and properties.
- Assists customers with unloading Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) at the HHW depot; assists with preparing HHW for disposal.
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance duties.
- Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and stooping.
- Ability to lift, handle and carry equipment, supplies, and materials weighing up to 23 kg.
- Works outdoors at Regional landfill sites and properties; follows Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures and uses personal protective equipment (e.g., raingear, protective clothing or safety equipment, gloves, safety boots, safety glasses) to mitigate risks associated with heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, noise, odours from the landfill, hazardous or toxic waste.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, plus one year of general labour experience.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation (e.g., health and safety).
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and members of the public.
- Functional knowledge of the safe operation and use of equipment related to job duties.
- Ability to support and demonstrate the Region's values.
