The Opportunity:

The Assistant Controller will report to the Corporate Controller, Corporate Finance and will be responsible for the full cycle accounting and reporting for BGO's European subsidiaries.


What You Will Do:


Operating subsidiaries:


  • Producing accurate and timely financial information for all subsidiaries.
  • Review monthly entities financial reporting packages including financial statements, variance analysis, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare consolidated package and presentation for Parent entity.
  • Assist in setting up of processes to integrate subsidiary business into existing financial reporting processes to ensure efficient and streamlined reporting.
  • Review tracking of capital investments in Funds of the Operating subsidiaries.
  • Coordinate reporting from subsidiaries and consolidation of results with key focus on consolidation entries.
  • Completing reporting to Parent.
  • Assist with Accounting of management entities.
  • Review of work performed by the senior corporate accountants including intercompany reconciliations.
  • Review of month end closing journal entries and accruals.
  • Review of transfer pricing entries.
  • Liaison with other business units for various tasks.
  • Assist in ad hoc requests and analysis, as and when required.
  • Lead yearend audit requirements.
  • Liaison with Parent other reporting requests/requirements.

Group Responsibilities

  • Assist in quarterly distribution process from the calculation to the funding of the distributions.
  • Assist with Management reporting to Parent.
  • Assist in preparation of Management reporting materials.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual Business Plan.

Other Responsibilities

  • Coordination of tax filing for entities.
  • Creating accounting memos to support management conclusion on various accounting matters.
  • Perform various business and financial analysis, as required.
  • Ensuring compliance and leading efforts to improve efficiencies and processes.
  • Oversee a team of senior corporate accountants.
  • Responsible for adhoc projects as they arise.
  • Embrace and proactively supporting BGO's culture of environmental sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility.

Who you are:


  • Qualified CPA designation or equivalent
  • Corporate accounting experience required, preferably in a multinational corporation, including minimum of 2 years supervising staff


  • Communication Skills

  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy


  • Technical Accounting

  • Strong accounting technical expertise in the following areas:
  • Complex consolidations with various ownership %s including Non-Controlling Interest
  • Foreign currency translations / restatements of foreign subsidiaries
  • Legal entity accounting
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Organizational/Multi-Tasking ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities; ability to prioritize and delegate workload; ability to work at a detailed level; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change
  • Relationship Skills ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; confidently interact with senior executives, ability to develop leadership in others; team player; ability to lead
  • Decision Making Skills ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems; ability to take decisive action; ability to resolve conflict


  • Computer Skills

  • Advanced skills in Excel required; knowledge of Yardi an asset
  • Strong tax background an asset
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP an asset
