We are looking for a
Jr. Client Service Representative in 6620 Kitimat Rd, Unit 2, Mississauga, ON L5N 2B8 CAN.


Your mission will be to:

  • Ensure current information is available on all CFIA testing requirements
  • Coordinate and/or perform sampling in accordance with the SOP and submit samples for required testing (chemistry, microbiology, physicals, sensory) to the laboratory.
  • Conduct all required physical and sensory testing
  • Review results for all tests and determine whether product "passes" or "fails" inspection. For "pass" products, advise the client that the shipment is cleared for shipment. For "fail" products, immediately advise the client.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and current records of all above mentioned duties in an orderly fashion as may be required for audit by the client and by the CFIA.
  • Ensure that adequate equipment and supplies are maintained to conduct sampling, physical and sensory evaluations of products
  • Perform required calibration and general preventative maintenance of equipment necessary to carry out these duties.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Laboratory information Management System (LIMS) that is required to complete job responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of the work and adhere to all procedures established by MXNS and/or its auditing clients.
  • Assure consistency and accuracy in all reports.
  • Schedule all work so as to meet timelines established by the client. Coordinate activities with other coworkers in the laboratory, in order to maintain a smooth flow of work.
  • Adhere to the quality system procedures and safety manual instructions. Complete quality control tasks to ensure the laboratory complies with Standard Operating Procedures for activities conducted under the inspection programs.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

YOUR PROFILE


A good knowledge of seafood products and seafood inspection typically obtained from a degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or Biology, or possibly obtained from years of experience is good to have.

Knowledge of the types of potential hazards and contaminants involving various seafood products is required to evaluate products appropriately. General knowledge of food testing methods and company procedures is required to assign appropriate testing procedures.

The incumbent has expertise needed to comprehend and communicate the documentation required by the SFCR and interpret and present the implications to the client.

A general knowledge of the Laboratory Information Management System is required to ensure accurate data entry and proper documentation.

Some exposure to food processing or Quality Assurance is beneficial to identify with the concerns and challenges of the client.

This position requires developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interface with the client and build departmental relationships. Ability to independently conduct label, physical and sensory inspections are required.


Required skills:

This incumbent must determine whether import shipments of seafood meet all the prerequisite requirements of the SFCR.

The results of all testing must also be evaluated and a decision reached on the compliance for each product tested.

Decisions must be made quickly to ensure that requirements of the client and the laboratory are met. Recommendations are frequently made to the client regarding services or testing needed to meet their needs. Previous experience, CFIA, SOP's, and the supervisor provide guidelines to address each situation. The incumbent at times must determine their own work schedule in order to accommodate the activities of outside bodies (ex. Customs Canada, storage companies, transport companies and the client). The incumbent receives general supervision from the Division President.

The incumbent works toward specific goals and targets established with the supervisor and the client to provide prompt and accurate service.

Daily activities proceed at the discretion of the incumbent with regular prioritization by the supervisor. The incumbent is responsible for following company guidelines, client service SOP's & policies, CFIA guidelines for seafood inspection and client
