COORDINATOR, COMMUNITY ENERGY MANAGEMENT

(Hybrid/Remote)
The incumbent is responsible for identifying, assessing, recommending, and leading initiatives related
to community energy and greenhouse gas reduction programs/projects; providing energy
management related expertise and guidance, conducting related research, and providing input to
modeling reports, and other documentation in relation to the implementation of required and voluntary
energy-related sustainability standards within, for example, Pickering's Integrated Sustainable Design
Standards (ISDS), Seaton Sustainable Placemaking Guidelines, and Sustainable Development
Guidelines. The incumbent also conducts site visits of residential and non-residential developments to
City's interests on local, regional, and province-wide committees, and project working groups.


Successful applicants will possess the following:

  • Engineering degree specializing in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Energy, Building
Science, Environmental Science, and/or Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma, or a
related discipline.

  • Professional designation as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is required.
  • A member in good standing in any of the following:
i. The Professional Engineers of Ontario
ii. The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists

  • Professional designation as a Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) or Certified Measurement and
Verification Professional (CMVP) or equivalent qualifications is an asset.

  • Accreditation through Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (e.g. LEED Green
Associate, LEED AP) is an asset.

  • Five years of progressively more responsibility and relevant workrelated experience, preferably in
a municipal environment, with an emphasis on energy management and conservation.

  • Detailed knowledge of building design and construction best practices.

  • Advanced research and analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and develop practical
and creative solutions.

  • Proven organizational, leadership skills and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to generate technical reports, formal
correspondence including Reports to Council, analyze budget figures, design presentation graphic
materials, and communicate with all levels of staff. Ability to explain complex technical issues
using common terms that a non-technical audience can understand.

  • Ability to plan and implement energy management, conservation and education programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management with the ability to coordinate multiple projects
simultaneously to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives.

  • Above average interpersonal skills. Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships and
to deal courteously and professionally with all levels of staff, volunteers, community stakeholders,
and members of the public.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and Windows based computer
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ontario Building Code and applicable energy
related legislation/regulations/guidelines.

  • Must be prepared to undergo a Criminal Reference Check as a condition of employment.
  • Must have a personal vehicle for use in the performance of duties and possess a valid Class "G"
Ontario Driver's Licence. Must provide consent to conduct regular driver's abstracts through the
Ministry of Transportation. A clean driving record is preferred.
Compensation includes the ability to work a hybrid remote schedule, a comprehensive benefits
package, pension plan, and an annual salary range starting at $84,284.20 to $93,657.20 based on 35
hours per week.
