JOB SUMMARY:


The Junior System Administrator provides hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources.

The Junior System Administrator will be responsible for the day to day support of the resort's network, system configuration, and hardware/software support setup and troubleshooting.


SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Oversee resort telecommunication systems and including voice, data and video communication for Revelstoke Mountain Resort and Selkirk Tangiers Heli Skiing. Provide support as required for ancillary business units including Food and Beverage, Northlands Construction, and Sutton Place Hotel Revelstoke.
  • Ensure security, confidentiality and longevity of corporate data, proprietary information and intellectual property in compliance with PCI standards.
  • Assess and make recommendations regarding software, hardware and associated licensing costs.
  • Use the Help Desk Ticketing system to retain records of repairs, changes and updates to desktop hardware/software.
  • Responsible for daily activities including system backup, upgrades and running scheduled maintenance and overseeing the operation and maintenance of network servers, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
  • Assist in the development/execution of the IT budget and associated capital projects, including purchasing and vendor relations.
  • Manage department expenses based on revenue.
  • Performs other tasks and projects as assigned.
  • Perform duties of the TSA when required

Ie:

  • Troubleshoot desktop and printer hardware and software issues; resolve issues to the end user's satisfaction
  • Install, configure, and test all new workstations, peripheral equipment, and software
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN and connectivity issues
  • Provide support for customer requests, analyze problems and escalate issues to Corporate IT team when necessary
  • Communicate technical information to nontechnical users
  • On call rotation required for afterhours emergency support

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical certifications or a combination of equivalent skills and experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong desire to learn in a fastpaced environment and work within a team of likeminded individuals
  • Proven experience supporting Microsoft productivity and desktop products
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R support experience in a Domain environment
  • Functional knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP

Beneficial to have:


  • Experience working in a trouble ticketing system with detailed note taking skills
  • Microsoft Office 365 support experience
  • Working knowledge of virtualization technologies including Hyper-V and VMware
  • Experience with Sophos, Dell, Cisco, Ubiquiti, OpenMesh or Meraki networking equipment
  • Customer service experience

Education:


  • A university degree, diploma in computer science or related IT certificates


  • Microsoft certification(s)

  • MCSA or MCITP
