The
-
Manager, Client Accounting is responsible for leading a Client Accounting team consisting of 3-6 associates (accountants). The Manager, Client Accounting will also support the Senior Director, Client Accounting in meeting the various objectives of the Finance Department and projects. Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of daily operations are part of the daily tasks of the Manager, Client Accounting. This is a fast-paced environment, and it is essential the Manager, Client Accounting have excellent time management and organizational skills. We are looking for a true professional; someone that has demonstrated the ability to build and manage effective teams through training, assessment, empowerment, and constructive feedback.
Duties and Responsibilities

_ Leadership_

  • Lead a Client Accounting team of 36 staff to ensure timely and accurate preparation of client financial statements
  • Build and maintain a culture of service excellence, with a focus on responsiveness and accuracy

Client Accounting_**- Build an efficient and scalable team structure that leverages technology

  • Ensure that all deadlines are met in relation to monthly and annual financial statements, budgets and audits
  • Be a financial knowledge and thought leader providing: i) training to new condo managers and directors as appropriate and ii) sound financial analysis and advice to client. Be the face of finance for clients and staff.
  • Support and drive client budgeting process in partnership with the management team
  • Attend Client Board Meetings as required
  • Lead and support on boarding of new clients to support client retention
  • Review monthly client financials and budgets on a rotating basis with priority given to "watchlist" clients
  • Management of "watchlist" clients in conjunction with the Senior Director, Client Accounting
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness of the regulatory environment and issues that could affect our business model
  • Maintain strong control environment and be open to process change, evaluating opportunities for continuous improvement

Finance Transformation_**- Support the Senior Director, Client Accounting in the timely and effective delivery of improvement initiatives and projects

  • Responsible for producing and maintaining accounting policy and procedure manuals, including relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Education and Experience-
Knowledge, Skills and Proficiencies

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and team building skills
  • A well organized team player with passion for customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decisionmaking skills
  • Skilled in conducting formal training, and informal coaching for direct reports
  • Knowledge in working with intercompany transactions, and accurately presenting those journal entries
  • Proficiency in analyzing and organizing data in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working through an IT system conversion is preferred
  • Accounting designation (or working towards) (CPA)
