Description
The City of Port Coquitam's Recreation Department is currently seeking enthusiastic, highly motivated, organized, fun and energetic individuals to join our team as part-time Aquatic Team Leaders.
Aquatic Team Leaders not only use their skills but it's an exciting job that promotes teamwork, develops communication skills, and encourages fitness and well-being.
Some of the key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performing all the duties of an Aquatic Leader and provides direction, support, feedback and assistance to lifeguards, instructional staff and contractors
- Ensures that onduty aquatic staff are working effectively, the program is operating safely and the facility is properly prepared for the enjoyment and safety of all patrons
- Supervises the delivery of aquatic programs, monitors and ensures the safety of the pool deck and change rooms, provides shift supervision of staff and ensures proper rotation of lifeguards
- Exercises independence of judgement and action in routine daily activities, referring unusual and difficult matters to a supervisor
- Completion of Grade 1
- Six (6) months full time equivalent experience in lifeguarding and teaching
- Three (3) months full time equivalent supervisory experience, or completion of Supervisory Skills course (3 credits), or completion of an Internal Aquatic Team Leader Training Program (16 hours)
- National Lifeguard Award
- Pool Option
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level "C"/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Occupational First Aid
- Level
- Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor award
