ESG Communications - Ottawa, Canada - ORBCOMM

Description

The ESG Communications and Program Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively communicate the company's commitment to ESG values, with an emphasis on how the company's cutting-edge IoT technology enables customers to achieve their ESG goals.

What you can expect:

• Reporting to the SVP of Global Marketing and Communications, working with a cross-discipline marketing team to develop and execute a communication strategy.
• Interviewing internal leaders, partners, and customers as primary research into ESG initiatives and their results.
• Writing and/or editing copy for various communications channels within the brand voice.
• Collecting invoices (utilities/fuel) from our global offices to support ESG reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. ESG Communication Strategy:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information on ESG initiatives, achievements, and ongoing projects as the basis for a comprehensive ESG communications strategy.
• Craft clear and compelling messages that resonate with internal and external stakeholders, emphasizing the company's dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices.

2. Technology Alignment:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the features and capabilities of the company's products and services that contribute to customers' ESG objectives.
• Identify and articulate the specific ways in which the technology addresses environmental impact, social responsibility, and governance standards as part of a solid communications strategy.
• Work closely with other members of the marketing team to integrate ESG-related messaging into the value proposition, product literature, presentations, and promotional materials.

3. Customer Engagement:

• Engage with customers to understand their ESG goals and challenges and how the ORBCOMM technology can help.
• Identify new use cases and success stories to drive the Voice of the Customer.

4. Sustainability Reporting:

• Support the collection of information required to assess the company's ESG progress year over year.
• Drive the preparation of ORBCOMM's annual ESG report.
• Stay informed about industry best practices and standards for ESG reporting.

5. Media Relations:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, journalists, and influencers covering ESG and technology topics.
• Proactively pitch ESG-related stories to relevant media outlets to secure coverage.
• Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media briefings to highlight the company's ESG initiatives and technological advancements.
• Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing regular updates to internal stakeholders.

6. Stakeholder Relations:

• Cultivate relationships with other GI Partners' portfolio companies ESG professionals to support knowledge sharing and the learning of best practices.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
• 5+ years of marcom or marketing experience in the technology sector.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with technology and the ability to translate technical details into accessible, compelling narratives.
• Interviewing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects.
