Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager, Student Systems, the Functional Analyst designs and implements enhancements to existing, as well as new business processes and technologies within the Office of the Registrar (RO).
Key responsibilities:
- Serves as a member of the project team that is responsible for implementing new business technologies and processes in the Registrars Office. May work collaboratively with the team on a project or be assigned the role of project coordinator based on skills and strengths.
- Conducts needs assessment sessions with project stakeholders to identify business requirements and scope of project.
- Clearly articulates and records requirements using process flow maps, flow charts, user stories, functional and technical specification.
- Ensures that research and assessment outcomes are effectively communicated back to stakeholders, and that potential systems/resource limitations are understood.
- Works with the Manager, ITS and stakeholders to identify solution(s) that best fit the new business requirements.
- Oversees ongoing maintenance and quality assurance for systems within the RO such as the Web Registration Applications, Millennium Fast Student Grade Entry and Reporting Application, Banner Student Aid, and Degree Works.
- Problem solves complex issues for RO system users: Admissions, Registration and Records, academic divisions, and other business units.
- Leads training for RO systems and business processes.
- Introduction of new systems and processes or significant changes to business systems and processes.
- Refreshers for staff or training on specific functions and processes at start or end of each term or business cycle, i.e., training staff on updated grade entry/end of term processes.
- Ad hoc requests to train new staff on a relevant RO business system or process (i.e., Banner training).
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Threeyear diploma or degree or equivalent from a recognized postsecondary institution in Business Administration or Information Systems with a focus on project management.
- Completion of a Business Analyst (or related) course is required.
- Minimum of five years' progressive experience with postsecondary education information systems, with demonstrated understanding of Registrar's Office principles such as curriculum, scheduling, registration, student records and student finances.
- Advanced technical skills, including demonstrated proficiency working with student information systems (preferably Banner) and related curriculum, records, and scheduling software.
- Experience analyzing complex business and technical needs and solutions.
- Teaching/training experience.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
