Alberta Innovates (AI) is seeking an Event and Program Coordinator responsible for leading and act as the front face of the organization for the annual global innovation - INVENTURE$.

The Event and Program Coordinator must have the ability to engage with new opportunities, both people and organizations.

Intrigued? Here's some more information about the position:

Reporting to the Director, Sponsorships and Events - INVENTURE$, the Event and Program Coordinator will lead and execute the coordination of the student programming, event participation and logistics.

This position will manage the recruitment, scheduling, and training of the volunteers for INVENTURE$ and is responsible for overseeing the travel and accommodations for all speakers, panelists, volunteers, and student program participants.

The successful incumbent will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following:


Develop and implement student programming strategies to boost high school student participation, diversify our audience, and increase exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Collaborate with ecosystem partners and create a growth strategy to enhance Alberta Innovates' brand presence and student clientele before they enter post-secondary education.

Follow and execute on project management best practice methodologies; lead the development and implementation of strategies to expand INVENTURE$ volunteer base, both internally and externally, to support its ongoing growth.

Train volunteers and manage them during the event. Work with and guidance to the volunteers involved in event planning and execution. Assign roles and responsibilities to volunteers. Monitor on-site client satisfaction and excellence in customer service. Review event metrics and feedback to improve future events and programs. Manage travel and hotel logistics for INVENTURE$ conference speakers and panelists to enhance their experience. Communicate with clients to understand their wants, needs and special requests for the event. Plan and manage catering services, menus, and dietary preferences for events with food components. Scout and research locations, solicit bids and work with vendors. Develop reports and documentation to facilitate growth with INVENTURE$ leveraging volunteers, speakers, and the high-school program initiative. Utilize quantitative data and qualitative analysis for knowledge transfer to the Steering Committee. Ensure meeting action items and decisions are documented and tracked for completion. Collaborate with the team to ensure all aspects of the event or program are well coordinated.


Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
Bachelor's degree in hospitality, Marketing, Advertising, or related field Minimum of 7 years conference experience. Valid passport (required) Project Management Professional/Project Management Certification (preferred) Demonstrated ability to organize complex events with multiple stakeholders.
