    Description

    We are looking for SINGLE FACER OPERATOR - Wet End Operator for our Ancaster location. This position will be reporting to the Production Supervisor.

    Broad Purpose

    To safely operate and maintain the equipment/machinery to produce quality products per company quality policy

    General Job Duties:

  • Be a team leader/member and assist double backer operator when needed
  • Prepare the single facers for start up, set all pressures required, and operate single facers, and run to speed and production targets, this may require overtime
  • Locate starch pans into run position, fill with starch, place roll stock into stands and position in machine, feed paper through splicers then into single facers
  • Make adjustments as required i.e. wrap, starch, etc.
  • Visually inspect for any non-conformances
  • Prepare machine for shift shut down when required which may require overtime
  • Perform quality checks before and during runs, make adjustments as necessary
  • Perform housekeeping as required ie: clean-up conveyor and rollers
  • Follow all ISO procedures and HACCP procedures as required
  • Complete all required documentation ie: production sheets
  • Report all problems to your supervisor when they occur
  • Daily clean up and preventive maintenance at end of shift
  • Other sundries duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Abide by all rules and regulations of the Company

    • Safety Responsibility and Accountability:

  • Follow equipment specific physical lock out tag out procedure
  • Mobile equipment operator to ensure daily operator checklist is completed before use. I.e. Clamp truck, Forklift, Elevated work platforms.
  • Report all hazards / problems to your Supervisor when they occur.

    • Other available tools are when hazard rating is low.

  • Pre-use inspection form
  • Use Manager plus and place a work request
  • Use of hazard reporting form
  • Report injury / incident to your Supervisor immediately
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety act, and Good housekeeping practices.
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) – Gloves, sleeves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, Hi- viz vest in Shipping/warehouse
  • Abide by all plant rules, safety rules and regulations of the Company
  • Keep fire equipment and exits clear all time
  • Zero Tolerance - Workplace Violence and Harassment: Refer to the policy posted on the H&S board.

    • Education:

    Minimum Grade 10

    Basic Math

    Essential Skills/Qualifications:

    Previous manufacturing experiences an asset

    Machine operation skills

    Organization skills

    Good communication

    Flexibility to work rotating shifts

    Team Player

    Self starter
