The Canadian Tax Analyst is a corporate tax role reporting to the Senior Manager, Canadian Taxation.

This role will be involved in assisting and supporting tax planning, compliance, reporting, transfer pricing and tax audits, with emphasis on Canadian tax compliance, accounting and financial statement reporting and other general corporate tax work or projects as required.

This role is hybrid from our Toronto, ON office location.

Responsibilities:

Preparation of quarterly and yearend Canadian income tax provisions
Preparation of Canadian corporate income tax returns, simple sales tax returns, nonresident tax compliance, withholding taxes and other tax filings on a timely basis
Review, monitor and respond to incoming tax assessments and notices
Preparation of working papers to support the quarterly and annual forecasts of tax provisions for the Canadian entities
Preparation of investment tax credit schedules and related corporate filings
Maintain tax continuity schedules for all Canadian corporate income tax accounts and assist with monthend close and account reconciliations
Assist with researching and responding to income tax audit queries
Calculating federal and provincial installments
Researching and analyzing various ad hoc tax situations
Assisting with process improvements by building efficiencies through automation or streamlining tasks

Qualifications:

Postsecondary degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
Minimum 3 years tax and audit experience
Experience in preparation of corporate tax returns, income tax provisions and government audit assistance
Superior analytical skills
Strong organization skills and ability to adapt quickly to change
A team player who gets results by collaboratively working with people as a problem solver
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
General knowledge of current legislation and policies
Willingness to learn and be mentored to further develop tax knowledge
This role requires successful clearance of a background check (including criminal check, credit check, employment verification along with academic)
