The primary purpose of this position is to perform & assist the day shift knife sharpener, help monitor the feather room area, removal of all inedible waste products generated in the production area, maintain general cleaning & disinfection of all inedible black totes.

Follow all procedures in a safe & efficient manner through the utilization, implementation & enforcement of the approved Sanitation Standard Operating procedures (SOP).

After initial training & instructions, the duties & performance will be monitored.

He should be familiar with the many hazards of the equipment he will be using & the environment in which he will work.

He should have an extensive training in the following areas:

Qualifications:

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Workers Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)
Material Safety Data Sheets ( MSDS)
7 Main Steps for Effective Cleaning & Sanitizing
Safety at Work
Basic Food Safety
Spill Containment procedure
Chemical Handling, Use, Concentration & Storage
Sanitation Contamination Procedure while working in the production areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for helping & assisting dayshift knife sharpener
To completely remove all inedible waste products generated in the production area by dumping them into the inedible dumping machine and Cleaning/sanitizing all inedible black totes quickly & efficiently during relatively short time period.
Ensure the removal of buildup feathers in floor ( De-Feathering Room) & Offal Room.
Responsible for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate for the worksite.
Ability to work unsupervised, reports & communicates with the sanitation coordinator, sanitation manager or production shift managers any discrepancy or concerns such as; Broken conveyor belts, malfunctioning equipments/machineries for immediate corrective action.
To relieve day shift knife sharpener during emergency situation or absence & perform his job according to the procedures.
Various additional sanitation tasks as directed by sanitation coordinator, sanitation manager or production manager(s).

Knowledge & Background Requirements:

Must be physically fit to work
Extensive inhouse training provided ( by sanitation manager)

Skills:

Valid Class 5 License and Forklift certification.
Safety Skills
Demonstrate knowledge in WHMIS & proper use of cleaning equipment's, tools & chemicals including the use of Personal Protective Equipment's (PPE)
Ability to work efficiently, work with mínimal supervision & able to work as a Team in an organized manner.

Abilities:

Ability to communicate, read, write English & follow instructions.
Highly flexible to perform multi tasks related to his work & with the ability to establish & maintain an effective relationship with coworkers.
Able to maintain & complete daily task assignments.

Tools Required:

Shovel, Manual Hand pallet lifter & power jack, water pressure hose, green Pad & brushes

Working Condition:

Exposure to cleaning chemicals some of which are corrosive
Exposure to wet & slippery floors, hot & cold temperatures
Exposure to noise ( Running conveyor belts, dumper & waste vacuum )

Protective Equipment's:

Strict compliance to the use of all protective equipment's such as: Safety boots, hardhat, rubber gloves, ear plug etc.

- **Physical Demand**:

Ability to carry & lift garbage containers ( approximate weight of 20 kg), pull inedible totes of inedible waste products from production area to dumping area.
Walking, lifting, pushing, bending & ability to remain standing for several hours using both hands while working.
