Summary of Responsibilities:


As the Buyer your overall responsibilities will be to place purchase orders for material for the timely delivery of goods to meet the requirements of production, data analysis, negotiate with suppliers, and supporting the team.

The Buyer will foster relationships with Vendors on stock equipment and parts and build relationships with new vendors.


The Buyer must promote and maintain a high level of communication and liaison with both the internal departments and external Vendors.

It is expected that this position will conduct business with the best interest of Wilcox Group of Companies in mind while following strong ethical and supply chain principles.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work closely with Production planning to review material requirements and communicate delays or issues with delivery on time requirements
  • Negotiate with Vendors to obtain the maximum value on price, payment terms, quality, and service. Sourcing of new and existing parts and assemblies.
  • Qualify and monitor new and existing vendors through departmental KPIs of Delivery on Time metrics
  • Prepare and issue Purchase Orders to Vendors according to MRP Job Requirements, Kanban, and Indirect Purchase Requisitions.
  • Monitor and expedite open Purchase Orders and resolve late, damage, overage and shortage deliveries.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality and Vendors to resolve non-conformances.
  • Resolve invoicing and payment discrepancies resulting from PO not matching invoice amount.
  • Upload Order Acknowledgement to Purchase Order.
  • Update and maintain MRP system on vendor records, purchasing price, lead time, payment terms and currency.
  • Assist with Vendor management and maintain good working relationships. RFQs, Vendor Returns, obtain Credit Memo for vendor returns.
  • Initiate Engineering Change Requests on obsolete and new sources of supply and contribute to ECR/ECN process as required.
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Comprehensive understanding of MS Office, and industry standard ERP/MRP platforms
  • Ability to read technical drawings including BOMs and CAD
  • Strong drive and time management skills

Job Knowledge or Work Experience:


  • 35 years of relevant purchasing experience
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing processes
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of all product lines
  • Ability to listen and communicate concisely and effectively
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise

Education:


  • Postsecondary education in Business Administration, Purchasing or Supply Chain is an asset
  • Yellow or Black belt and/or Six Sigma training/designation an asset

Salary:
$65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
