The Position:


Reporting to the Interim Director, Programs & Services, the Manager, Employment Services is responsible for the development, implementation, management, supervision, and evaluation of Employment Services in accordance with the Centre's mission and vision.

As a team member working collaboratively with other departments and program leads, they will recognize the varying needs of participants and respond by developing appropriate programs and activities and fostering related partnerships.


What You'll Do:


  • Program Development, Delivery and Operations. You will develop and manage innovative social enterprise and employment program models related to enhancing employment skill development and independence for all participants. You will develop and implement an effective outreach strategy to create and enhance relationships with community partners, funders, and employers. You will work with the Employment team to ensure appropriate client service delivery through the implementation of individualized action plans, data collection, and report writing. You will represent Abilities Centre in business community networks and collaboration initiatives. You will work collaboratively with the Senior Management Team to develop, review, revise, and operationalize quarterly plans, specifically as they relate to identified outcome measures. You will ensure compliance of program requirements as set out in the service contract for all programs funded by the Province of Ontario. You will coordinate with the Research department to identify and establish needs of communities and gaps in programs and services, and you will design and implement programs based on the identified gaps. In partnership with Research and the Employment team, you will implement the Program Impact Framework to measure and collect data related to outcomes, goals, and impact for participants of each program. You will support the identification and development of appropriate program policies and procedures as per governmental contractual obligations and health and safety protocols. You will coordinate with the Marketing and Communications team to promote Employment Services and events.
  • Supervision and Personnel Development. You will manage and supervise direct and indirect reports including frontline staff, volunteers, and placement students in the delivery of programs and services. You will provide leadership, coaching, and expertise to the Employment team in the areas of intake and assessment, case management, problem solving, and understanding the concepts and ethics of counseling. You will conduct performance reviews and support staff in identifying and pursuing professional development. You will coordinate the recruitment, training, and management of employees, placement students, and volunteers. You will provide daytoday supervision of the Employment team including planning, scheduling, and work distribution, and will complete biweekly payroll for frontline staff. You will foster a work environment that values and encourages teamwork, inclusion, and accountability. You will cultivate a personcentred environment through exceptional customer service. You will establish rapport and maintain effective relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Administration and Financial Management. You will manage, coordinate, and monitor all assigned programs and services, funding requirements, commitments, and targets. You will analyze and report on program activities and make recommendations to the Senior Management Team regarding strategies and activities that improve program efficiency and effectiveness. You will support the development and submission of funding proposals, program reports and data collection. You will provide input to the program budget development process and manage services within budget guidelines. You will research funding and grant opportunities. You will ensure privacy of personal information pertaining to members and participants is protected, stored, and managed as per privacy guidelines and policies.
