Introduction
Atura Power is the largest fleet of combined cycle power plants in Ontario. Our facilities are located across the province including Napanee, Halton Hills, Toronto and Windsor. This position is based out of the Atura Power
Oakville office but is based on a hybrid work arrangement. The Oakville office is located at 1415 Joshuas Creek Drive, Oakville ON.

Job Summary
Responsibilities:
- Provide highquality and timely legal advice on corporate/commercial matters
- Handle all commercial legal work, apart from labour & employment
- Litigation/dispute resolution matter management
- Stay current on business and legal issues in general, including statutory changes, significant case law, and prevailing legal strategy
- Work independently to identify, research and resolve legal issues, overcome practical barriers, and provide options that will work best for the business
- Develop and provide strategic advice
- Provide educational presentations on legal matters and developments relevant to their business area
- Participate proactively in crossfunctional core teams engaged in major projects, strategic business initiatives, procurements and other similar matters, including participating in developing and executing commercial strategies
- Prepare and/or review and negotiate various legal agreements and documents
- Employ effective work practices and file management
- Meet all work schedule requirements and proactively pursue new challenges and files
- Liaise and develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Manage and provide direction on corporate reorganization and forming new entities
- Utilize external counsel on a strategic basis and managing legal budgets
- Liaise and develop relationships with internal stakeholders at Atura and at OPG
- Provide strategic advice on OEM agreements and project development
- Provide mentorship and development of junior lawyer
Qualifications/Competencies
- 10+ plus years of experience in corporate/commercial law
- Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB/JD)
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Experience in providing legal support in respect of major projects, including drafting and negotiating contracts and supporting prelitigation commercial dispute resolution processes
- A resultsoriented focus and the ability to work in a fastpaced, changing environment and effectively manage several projects simultaneously
- Experience in providing legal support in respect of general corporate/commercial matters and public procurement processes
- Strong verbal communication skills: ability to influence and communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels
- Strong drafting and communication skills
- Exceptional time management skills
- Ability to build relationships and be a team player
- Strong analytical, research and problemsolving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Highest level of personal integrity, sound professional judgement and business acumen
- Superior writing skills, including the ability to compile information from research, case files or verbal direction to draft documentation
- Ability to provide sound, riskinformed and practical legal advice
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and other similar technology tools
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive and confident
- Proven ability to work in a complex environment
- Corporate/commercial experience ideally gained at a large law firm or an inhouse legal department of a large corporation
- Experience working in/for/on behalf of an organization in industries such as utilities, energy, power, mining, heavy/industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, or the broader public sector
