Summary:


DMC is currently looking for a Occupational Health Manager to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Sudbury, Ontario.

The Occupational Health Manager will be responsible for managing work related and non-work-related illnesses and injuries among the DMC workforce.

The incumbent will arrange health assessments, coordinate the disability management process, arrange return to work plans, promote health and wellness programs, and maintain thorough records.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage, coordinate, and deliver DMC's policies and procedures in respect to health assessments, disability management, industrial hygiene, hearing conservative program, and wellness programs.
  • Arrange new hire preemployment drug testing and medical evaluations, communicate results and acceptability to report to work based on those results.
  • Maintain confidential documentation, standardize medical forms, and maintain thorough records.
  • Facilitate return to work planning while adhering to the guidance of medical providers.
  • Ensure that all issues with respect to workrelated case management, including illness and injury, are managed according to applicable regulations, as well as corporate standards and policies.
  • Work closely with all project site HSEC teams to support the proper training of all employees with respect to Occupational Health and Hygiene. Support project activities related to industrial hygiene.
  • Liaise, as required, with stakeholders regarding training and related policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Participate in the investigation of workplace injuries/illnesses, including submitting any required reporting and the development of remedial action plans.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources for preemployment medicals, short term disability management, and the fitness for duty program.
  • Facilitate referral to Employee Assistance programs.
  • Other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:


  • 8+ years in Health & Safety with a focus on injury/illness management and prevention.
  • Experience within the mining industry or heavy industry is required.
  • Experience with disability management is required.
  • Knowledge of provincial legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workplace Safety Insurance Act.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written), as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of WSIB and Human Rights legislation.
  • Open to some travel to other offices or project sites as may be required.
