Work Description


The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Construction Superintendent in the oversight of construction projects, and is accountable for safety, schedule, cost, quality and general overall project performance.

The Assistant Superintendent will assist in promoting ongoing position relations with all external stakeholders.


Major Responsibilities

  • Assist in the delivery of various construction projects, including outlining and managing the scope of work for all aspects of the projects to the entire project team.
  • Maintain the project schedule including scheduling requirements that are needed from trades, consultants, suppliers and vendors.
  • Liaise as needed between stakeholders of projects, including superintendents, estimators, owner representatives, finance, and senior management team.
  • Maintain client relationships across all projects within portfolio.
  • Prepare regular project updates and communicate progress with Construction Superintendent and Project Managers.
  • Uphold Doran's strong health and safety culture throughout the organization and delivery of the project.
  • Resolve conflicts and quality issues with materials or installation during construction.
  • All other duties as required.

Statement of Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in the construction industry is required. Prior work experience in the ICI sector of the industry would be preferable.
  • Postsecondary education in Construction Management, Engineering/Architectural Technology considered an asset
  • Experience on highrise projects would be considered a strong asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Project)
  • Working knowledge of construction law and building codes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills including relationship building and people management.
  • Understanding of decisionmaking authority and ability to influence decisions.
  • Demonstrated strong conflict resolution skills, with the ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and direct report tasks.

Work Environment:


  • Construction environment can be difficult conditions, this role will require working outdoors and indoors.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines.
