Description

As an Actuarial Advisor in the Property Ratemaking Department, you'll help us achieve our growth and profitability objectives in a number of ways, including by building statistical models to guide decision making and analyzing problems and business opportunities.

The Property Ratemaking Department has a large team of talented actuaries who are responsible for pricing a wide range of property products across the country.

You'll have an important advisory role that requires you to prepare recommendations, solutions and action plans based on the organization's directions and objectives.

Coordination is critical. You'll be interacting with stakeholders in other fields, so you'll need to be curious, analytical and an effective communicator.

More specifically, you wi'll be required to:

  • Help develop optimal pricing strategies based on predictive loss ratio and behaviour models
  • Provide guidance and support to junior actuaries for various initiatives
  • Help develop cutting-edge pricing techniques in an ever-changing environment to promote profitable growth by always doing what's best for Desjardins members and clients
  • Understand, build and improve the segmentation of our property products using modern modelling techniques (GLM, GBM, etc.)
  • Conduct actuarial analyses of data (input, competition analysis, budget, etc.), make appropriate assumptions, communicate results to stakeholders (including management and other teams) and make recommendations in a fast-paced environment
  • Produce and analyze reports to monitor changes in business portfolio and market trends
  • Support underwriting and operations sectors on various premium-related items

What you bring to the table- Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, math or statistics- At least four years of related experience in property and casualty insurance- Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered- Passing grade in at least 4 CAS professional exams or the ACIA Capstone Exam- Strong communication skills in both French and English, both oral and written due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAS, R and the Willis Towers Watson Suite
