Position Description:


  • The Program Coordinator provides support and guidance for clinical research professionals in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and goals of the Office of Clinical Research Professionals (OCRP), Clinical Research Services (CRS) and the Research Institute (RI).Established in 2020, the OCRP is the institutional home for all clinical research professionals (CRPs) (including but not limited to assistants, coordinators, managers) at SickKids by offering professional development, mentoring, networking, and staff engagement. The core mandate of the OCRP is to help establish and maintain a qualified workforce of clinical research professionals at SickKids, including establishing the processes and engaging culture needed for onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of clinical research professionals. The Program Coordinator plays a key role in developing a community of professionalism, growth, and development for clinical research professionals.

The role requires well-developed program coordination skills, communication skills (written and oral) and sound familiarity with clinical research competencies and best practices.

The Program Coordinator works closely with Clinical Research Educators in addressing the specific mandate of the OCRP and ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient conduct of a range of clinical research studies at SickKids.


Here¿s What You¿ll Get To Do:

The Program Coordinator supports the Office of Clinical Research Professionals (OCRP).


Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Facilitate a comprehensive orientation for all new CRPs in the institution, including introduction to Clinical Research intranet pages and systems, materials, processes, SOPs and other relevant clinical research resources available at SickKids.
  • Ensure the onboarding and orientation process for new CRPs is reviewed annually to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and policies.
  • Organize and lead motivating and engaging networking and outreach events for CRPs
  • Build a dynamic and active community of practice for CRPs by actively communicating to OCRP membership through ongoing updated to the OCRP website, including updated information in the monthly newsletter, and maintenance of the OCRP mailing list.
  • Maintain a database of training for all newly hired CRPs.
  • Identify and address training gaps and opportunities across existing internal and external educational content
  • Codevelop and cofacilitate competencybased learning initiatives for CRPs including the Career Development Series and Leadership Skills for Clinical Research Staff
  • Outreach and collaborate with key stakeholders across the SickKids enterprise (including Research Operations, Learning Institute, Subject Matter Experts, Working Groups, clinical departments and divisions etc.) and with external partners (N2, CTO, and other academic research hospitals etc.)
  • Co-Chair Clinical Research Advisory Group with 3040 members
- identify priorities, set agendas, follow-up with action items, and communicate with group members

  • Perform ongoing evaluation activities to assess OCRP/educational projects including maintaining OCRP/educational database, reviewing feedback forms, reporting quarterly metrics etc.
  • Represent and promote Clinical Research Services and OCRP at internal and external events and activities including preparation of presentation materials, handouts, posters, etc.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Services leadership team in the implementation of new initiatives and vision for OCRP, in alignment with Clinical Research Transformation work.
  • Perform other OCPR and CRSrelated duties, as required.

  • Bachelor¿s Degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration or other related field, commensurate with experience
