Summary:


The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is a professional caregiver who is responsible and accountable for providing quality patient care within a delivery model in accordance with WWRCP philosophy, policies and standards of care of Grand River Hospital, the College of Nurses (CNO) and all relevant legislation.

Responsibilities:


The RPN coordinates care for chemotherapy suite patients requiring, surveillance testing for COVID and supportive treatment in an outpatient environment.

Collaborates closely with physicians and other disciplines. The RPN will also support brachytherapy procedures in an operating room type of environment. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.'


Other information:

  • Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario One year
  • Operating Room experience preferred
  • CPR certification required
  • Ability to function effectively and autonomously in a clinical area with high turnover
  • IV certification and expertise required
  • Experience with administration and management of blood products, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, CVAD care and management
  • Completion or willingness to complete Foundations in Oncology required
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve to keep the patient safe
  • Advanced assessment skills and knowledge is essential
  • Demonstrated communication skills necessary to interact with interdisciplinary teams, patients, families and care givers
  • Dependability, reliability and adaptability
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with Grand River Hospital's mission, vision and values
