LBTS Data Technician:


The Land Based Test Site (LBTS) is another step to Seaspan establishing a formidable team to design, integrate and commission the ships' electronic systems.

The LBTS will have the ability to conduct system integration, extensive testing and operate electronic equipment prior to installation onboard ship.

Eventually the facility will also encompass ship's crew and student training.


Duties and Accountabilities

  • Performing the installation, calibration and operation of radar equipment and other associated equipment.
  • Analysis of causes of faults and malfunctions in electrical/electronic systems, system components and subassemblies.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and focus attention and energy to bringing various priorities together to achieve set goals and objectives.
  • Work with Design team to ensure smooth integration of new products and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform diagnostic and repair tasks related to defective hardware, software configuration, network configuration and integration issues.
  • Experience with multiple navigation products is an asset.
  • Combining multiple device sources into one output(video).
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations and work environments.
  • Aids in the creation of integration and acceptance test plans.
  • Technical, analytical, presentation, organizational, influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Leads the creation and validation of radar maintenance procedures related to the installation, part replacement and recalibration.
  • Business ethics, integrity and honesty in all situations.
  • Ensures awareness of and compliances of Radiation Hazard Awareness to applicable employment, environmental, health and WCB safety legislation and follow company lock outtag out procedures.
  • Must be eligible to meet and maintain requirements for Reliability Status security clearance.

Education & Experience

  • 3+ Years of experience in the industry.
  • Previous experience operating/installing radar equipment an asset.
  • Technical background which would allow an understanding of the concepts of radar equipment.
  • Technical knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP network and RS232/422 messaging an asset.
  • Electronic Engineering Degree, diploma or equivalent education, training, and experience.
