Summary:

The purchasing coordinator responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.

To be successful as a purchasing coordinator you should be able to manage and optimize purchasing activities and processes.

An outstanding purchasing coordinator should have excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers while ensuring that Production stock levels are maintained without any shortages.

This includes but is not limited to, all daily component usages as well as warehousing bulk supplies.


Salary:
$60,000 to $65,000 depending on experience.

Dorval, QC (Onsite)


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Developing and implementing purchasing strategies based on monthly/yearly Sales trends.
  • Managing daily purchasing activities, supervising your support staff and allocating the appropriate tasks.
  • Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Managing & maintaining supplier import HS codes.
  • Coordinating with Sales & Production in order to determine and manage inventory needs.
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Preparing cost estimates and managing inventory levels to meet or exceed budgets.

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:


  • Degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a purchasing coordinator or in a similar position.
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently & be able to collaborate with other department stakeholders.

Human Development Responsibilities:


  • Lead, develop and help strengthen your department.
  • Cross train & document all pertinent Procurement steps with you Team to mitigate any process gaps.
  • Performance evaluations.

Budgetary Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for forecasting future needs and allocating resources to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for analytics on obsolete parts & components.
  • Responsible for aging inventories & recommending alternative solutions.
  • Purchase supply of products/materials.
  • Determine the lowest cost for products/materials.
  • Track and record orders.
  • Receive orders and document arrivals.
  • Manage supply base by creating & maintaining a centralised supplier database.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems.
  • Source and interview vendors; negotiate contracts and costs.
  • Analyze supply base.
  • Prepare requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Monitor order expenses by maintain Procurement budgetary responsibilities as directed by Head Office.
  • Communicate performances and costs to management.
  • Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies.
  • Organize and schedule procurements in a timely manner.
  • Comply to scorecard measurement system to track values.
  • Communicate with vendors, clients, customers, team members, and managers to align goals.
