About the Role

The Finance department at OPTrust is responsible for all the financial management and corporate reporting for the Pension Plan.

This includes reporting on the status of our investment portfolio, pension plan and on the administrative expenditures of the Trust.

What You'll Do

  • Financial Reporting_
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial and management reports to the Executive Management Team and the Audit/Finance and Risk Committee
  • Assist with the yearend audit process, preparation and proofreading of annual financial statements and related audit schedules
  • Planning and control process_
  • Assist with the annual budget/planning and reporting process
  • Assist with the analysis of employee expenses and credit card expenses
  • Documentation of controls and procedures_
  • Develop account analysis and documentation procedures
  • Assist with cleaning up and organizing the finance shared folders
  • Assist with scanning of office documentation
  • Backfilling for vacation coverage_
  • Assist with backfilling certain positions within the Finance area to cover vacation periods and project work. These may include accounts payable processing, contributions processing, bank deposits, cash management, analysis of trustees' expenses, investment accounting, financial and budget reporting
  • Other duties as assigned:_
  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of the Monthly Operating Report and the Audit/Finance and Risk Committee materials process by:
  • Gathering information from our various cost centre managers
  • Preparing graphs and analytical review
  • Developing templates
  • Providing preliminary explanations and comments on the results
  • Researching accounting issues
  • Document controls by:
  • Establishing goal of control with control owners
  • Developing documentation of controls design to meet control goal
  • Reviewing/revising of documented controls material
  • Backfill for staff during vacation and project work
  • Assist with the yearend audit process
What You Bring

In order for applicants to be considered for this position, their resume must clearly demonstrate that they have the following:

  • Work experience in the financial sector would be considered an asset
  • Intermediate level in MS Office, specifically Excel
  • Handson experience with accounting systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Sound judgment and initiative
