About the Opportunity:


Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH) is seeking a full-time pediatrician to provide consulting care in both inpatient and outpatient practice settings with possible satellite clinics in Shelburne and Digby.

Physicians also have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents in addition to offering their expertise on pediatric care to various committees.

There is an affiliation with IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax which provides travelling sub-specialty clinics, telehealth grand rounds, and an air transport program.


Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH) was originally founded in 1912 and has developed into a vast health care complex serving the 60,000 people of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby Counties.

Located in Yarmouth, YRH has 124 inpatient beds and provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient and satellite programs:

Responsibilities:

- work as a full scope of practice pediatrician providing care to the patients within Western Zone
- participate in call shifts
- support Nova Scotia Health in advancing the delivery of pediatric care by liaising with the applicable staff within the zone and province
- offer consultation support to Western Zone, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- be accountable to the patient population in Western Zone by providing clinics and occasional satellite clinics
- responsible to the Zone Pediatrics Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
- operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health


Expected Hours:


  • 37.5 hours/week
- on-call schedule


Qualifications:

- all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- all specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
- membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
