    Position Summary

    We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Electrical Apprentice. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn and possesses a strong work ethic. The Electrical Apprentice will work closely with our experienced team to develop practical skills and gain valuable hands-on experience. Under the direction of Leadership and Mentors, the Apprentice receives and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers. These assignments support field and shop operations and completing customer orders.

    Responsibilities

    • Work safely and within your capabilities in a field service and/or shop environment.
    • Provide hands on electrical skills for the installation, troubleshooting, testing, maintain, redesign, rebuild, retrofit, and/or repair of electrical systems.
    • Provide hands on mechanical skills such as: welding, painting, fitting, cutting, bolting, detailed print reading, measuring, drawing markups.
    • Operation of mobile equipment in a safe manor including, vehicles, trailers, bucket trucks, arial work platforms, forklifts, and other rental equipment.
    • Complete incoming, visual inspection for electrical and mechanical defects.
    • Maintain strong client relationships through quality and quantity of work performed.
    • Demonstrate a continual effort to improve your skills and company operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with other departments to provide a quality and seamless operation.
    • Communicate to PM, Manager or other designee for effective problem resolution and transfer of pertinent information on jobs in process and complete.
    • Work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignments. Receive information from team members and/or leadership regarding customer needs and product requirements and utilize this information to effectively complete jobs.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and perform routine shop organization & cleanup as needed to ensure a safe & orderly work environment.
    • Observe all company, local, and regulatory safety rules, location and company best practices, and company policies and procedures.
    • Work nights and weekends as business need dictates.
    • Complete test reports to Company and Customer standards and timelines.
    • Complete other duties assigned. Required Experience and Qualifications:
    • High School diploma and currently enrolled in a post-secondary education program, with a minimum of 2 years of related field experience.
    • Knowledge of various safety standards such as WCB, Provincial, OSHA safety standards
    • Knowledge of industry standards such as NETA, OSHA, IEEE, CSA and NFPA
    • Proven electrical / mechanical skills and/or experience with different types of low and high voltage equipment. Experience with Industrial and Utility electrical systems, installation of power distribution equipment and large switchgear is preferred.
    • Able to effectively problem solve.
    • Good computer skills for specialized software, data entry, looking up information, and/or creating reports.
    • Able to communicate oral and written communication skills; follow directions-written direction, oral direction, reading work orders and/or specs as assigned; work in a team environment and communicate with team, various departments, and/or Customers as business needs dictate.
    • Customer Focused-able to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and produce a quality work product
    • Valid Class 5 driver's license.

    Additional Information

    Travel: 25-50%

    Physical Demands: Lifting a minimum of 50lbs on a daily, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions.
