Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking an innovative leader for the position of
Manager, Corporate Reporting to plan, organize and supervise corporate reporting functions including supervision of junior accountants and financial analysts.
Additionally, they will lead HSN's accounting activities, including timely reporting and analysis, cash management, treasury and tax handling functions, in accordance with professional and industry standards.

KEY FUNCTION:
Plan, organize and supervise corporate reporting functions including supervision of junior accountants and financial analysts.
Lead HSN's accounting activities, including timely reporting and analysis, cash management, treasury and tax handling functions, in accordance with professional and industry standards.
REPORTING:
Under the general direction of the Director, Finance.
DUTIES:
- Complete, analyze and ensure the accuracy of various key corporate financial reports within prescribed timelines and according to the specific needs of various stakeholders and various other funding or governing agencies.
- Perform detailed analysis of monthly financial results, document the outcome and investigate areas of concern in order to explain or ensure corrective action for all material variances.
- Monitor, project and report on cash flow; examine balance sheet accounts for unusual activity and reconcile accounts.
- Perform and review reconciliations and analysis of all balance sheet accounts and adjustments.
- Complete and review yearend reconciliations and compile professional level working papers to provide and/or discuss variance explanations and rationale for discretionary accruals with the auditors.
- Prepare draft of yearend financial statements and compile other yearend financial and statistical reports.
- Identify and report on other significant financial issues that may have a financial impact on the organization; provide analysis, alternatives and recommendations.
- Plan and implement special and complex projects.
- Manage human resources which include: recruitment, selection and training.
- Guide, motivate, monitor and supervise staff, develop standards of performance, evaluate performance and make recommendations on disciplinary action if required.
- Oversee the process of data flow between accounting systems and subsystems and consult on the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting process flow.
- Present financial information as required and advise on financial policies and procedures.
- Oversee the work of others in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), its regulations, and HSN policies.
- Provide hospital wide, oncall coverage for problems and serious issues after hours and on weekends according to scheduled rotation.
- Determine and align improvement projects with HSN's Strategic Plan; monitor and adjust to achieve goal outcomes.
- Teach, coach and lead staff in the development and monitoring of quality indicators and improvement initiatives.
- Engage in and foster professional development of all staff and provide opportunities for learning within budgeted resources.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors; investigate report, debrief and take or direct corrective action as required on incidents.
