Applications are invited for the regular position of part-time Business Development Coordinator in the Research & Innovation Division. The starting salary is $24.49 hr for a 24-hour work week. Additional hours may be required at peak times during the year such as start or end of term. The position is located at the Welland Campus.
- and medium-sized businesses within the Niagara Region and beyond. The incumbent will be responsible for tracking, monitoring, following up and providing support to management in all relations with external partners, including the use of appropriate software tools to produce and analyze reports of new project leads.


The Business Development Coordinator works with Research Innovation Centres to support outreach efforts to bring awareness to funded research, technical services and course-based research.

The incumbent is also responsible for assisting with the generation of new project leads through internal and external events, from initial identification of relevant events, through to attendance and tracking.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Respond to industry partner inquiries.
  • General correspondence and support for all industrydriven communication.
  • Complete administrative duties involved with developing new partnerships, including determining the best course of action for all leads, whether coursebased research, technical services, or applied research projects, and funneling them accordingly.
  • Assists with the migration to a Customer Relationship Management platform.
  • Provide support to Research & Innovation Managers in new project development, completing contracts and forms
  • Works with Dissemination & Outreach team to develop unique marketing initiatives to bring awareness to Innovation Centres.
  • Provide support in identifying events and the logistics involving industry partners, including the coordination of guest speakers, site visits, conference attendance and learning resource
  • Plan and execute small and largescale events both individually and as part of a team, including external events, booths, and conferences in the community.
  • Deliver orientation to all new industry partners as required.
  • Maintain the database of all potential, new, current and past external partners for the department.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Minimum of 2year diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Event Management, Sales, Communications, Public relations or a similar field of study.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience that can include:
  • Experience in an education/training setting in combination with experience in business, government industry
  • Has owned and operated or worked at a small business.
  • Experience in Business Development, and consulting/advising.
  • Experience in financial management, marketing, human relations, communications, organizational skills
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management software.
