ABOUT THE JOB:

The RISQ Division's mission is to contribute to the sustainable and predictable growth of the SG Group by overseeing and independently challenging the objectives and strategies of the Business Lines.

RISQ's mission is to independently analyze, challenge, opine and monitor on the risk-taking activities of the Business Lines in order to get to the best possible outcome for the Bank.

The RISQ division in the US supports all the activities in the Americas Region (US, Canada and Latin America), which is almost exclusively SGCIB-oriented.

Within the RISQ Division, the Operational Risk ("RISQ/AME/OPE") department has the primary responsibility as the Second Line of Defense ("2LOD") for developing, enforcing and overseeing the Operational Risk Framework based on SG Group, Regulator and peer best practices.

The mission is to manage the operational risks and permanent control frameworks to which SG's Americas operations (SG AMER) are exposed.

Key principles include:

Clarifying the roles and accountabilities for Operational Risk specific programs cascaded from the US Exco Management to the First Line of Defense ("1LOD"), individual employees and Risk Management teams
Ensuring regulatory requirements are met while providing maximum business value and efficiency
Establishing and providing independent operational risk oversight of 1LOD owned operational risk responsibilities
Providing guidance and advice to the lines of business on a daytoday basis to preemptively identify, manage and mitigate operational risk throughout SG AMER
Evaluating and escalating critical and emerging risks across the firm and to the Group level organization, and ensure proper controls are implemented
Aggregating risks and information across SG AMER; ensuring escalation of noncompliance of risk limits and standards through SG AMER governance and reporting structure

The Risk Automation & Innovation ("RAI") team is a functional group that gathers in Montreal under a common mandate from several different teams of RISQ based in New York.

The mission statement of the RAI team is to:

- on behalf of users, conceive and ensure implementation of a RISQ IT infrastructure and data strategy that is lean, coherent and impactful for users;
- conceive and implement, or ensure implementation of, interfaces between the users of the data and the data; understand the needs and requirements of the RISQ team to be able to be an effective second line of defense;
- produce and contribute to the production of automated reports

What will be your DAY-TO-DAY?
The Operational Risk / Risk Automation & Innovation Officer is:

member of the RISQ/AME/OPE department, reporting to the Head of the Monitoring Control and Reporting ("MCR") team within that department (located in New York), and a member of the RAI functional team (located in Montreal)
Operational Risk Monitoring, Control & Reporting:
Produce operational risks reports for internal or external purposes using statistical tools to identify, analyse and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets;
Oversee the monitoring breaches/exceptions to policies, procedures and to develop, monitor and report on risk appetite statement metrics and key risk indicators to the SG AMER governance bodies;
Expand operational risk processes, operational risk events collection and issues management tools to track and report operational risk events, metrics, issues and action plans;
Lead in the defining of business requirements and performing user acceptance tests for tools related to operational risk's participation in the Governance, Risk & Compliance ("GRC") framework;
Operational Risk Data Champions project manager for automation/efficiency initiatives;
Develop a good understanding of all risk processes, identify issues and design technical solutions to improve Risk Management efficiency;
Contribute and support other RISQ/AME/OPE teams as needed to support the team mission.

As a member of the Risk Automation & Innovation team:

Be a key contributor in the implementation of the strategy and roadmap designed by the Coordinator of the RAI team related to the RISQ IT infrastructure and data;
Work closely with other members of the RAI team and the technology function to enhance data accuracy, integrity, timeliness and adaptability;
