NAIT's Department of Continuing Education is seeking contract instructors to teach high school Math courses, including grade 10C, grades , 20-2) and/or grade or 30-2) courses during the 15-week Fall term, September to December. The Academic Upgrading program will be offering
daily in-person delivery for the full term.


The Fall 2023 on-campus courses will be delivered daily during the daytime within the classroom for - 2 hours between September 1 to December 15, 2023.

There is a possibility of a Math 30-1 running 2 nights per week from 6:00 - 9:50pm. We are seeking instructors who have experience in teaching the AB Math High School Education Learning Outcomes.

A contracted instructor must have a desire to maintain positive and professional interactions with adult learners at a variety of skill levels, ages, and backgrounds.

Instructors must also be able to engage students in interesting and innovative lessons within the classroom.


Contract Instruction Deliverables:


  • Provide classroom instruction using an outcomesbased educational approach in a grade 10, grade 11 or grade 12 high school Math course.
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and course delivery.
  • Prepare, create, and deliver lessons and activities that directly support the course Learning Outcomes in a classroom environment.
  • Create and administer inperson assessments according to Learning Outcomes
  • Evaluate and assess student learning and performance.
  • Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required.
  • Liaise with the Academic Upgrading staff and colleagues to ensure content relevance, consistent delivery of course materials and testing across sections.
  • Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Respond professionally to student issues and concerns.
  • Seek feedback from students on instructional effectiveness.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Energetic in leading and motivating students
  • Welldeveloped communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
  • Proficient in use of NAITsupported tools for online course delivery, including Moodle, Microsoft Teams, and/or WebEx.
  • Ability to prepare, create, deliver, and modify virtual online course content to meet varying student learning needs; this may include synchronous and asynchronous delivery.
  • Strong orientation to student success and satisfaction and empathetic to student needs
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Computer skills related to course delivery.
  • Strong online technology skills
  • Strong understanding of AB High School Math curriculum

Qualifications:


  • Related B.Ed. or B.Sc. degree preferred
  • Proficient in using learning technologies
  • Related instructional experience at the high school or postsecondary levels an asset
