The Montreal Heart Institute (MHI) is an ultra-specialized cardiac hospital affiliated with Université de Montréal. It is dedicated to excellence in patient care, training, prevention, rehabilitation, research and development. Founded in 1954, it is a leading cardiac center in Canada and one of the largest internationally.

Its coordinating center, the Montreal Health Innovations Coordinating Centre (MHICC), is a full service clinical academic research organization with a core staff of >160 individuals that manage projects in >2500 sites in over 30 countries.

It includes a strong biostatistical team, as well as programming experts, database managers, quality control experts, epidemiologists, and project managers.

The MHI arrhythmia service receives over 4000 referrals and performs 2500 procedures annually.

Its clinical research team includes experts in the diverse facets or electrophysiology including atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, cardiac resynchronization therapy, congenital heart disease, sudden cardiac death, genetics, and epidemiology, with >85 publications per year.

MANDATE with
Paul Khairy, MD, PhD

Collaborate with investigators to develop objectives, statistical designs, methods, and statistical analysis plans
Perform appropriate methodologic procedures for statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, exploratory data analyses, graphs and schematic summaries, and statistical tests and modeling
Perform sample size and power calculations and prepare statistical sections for research protocols and manuscripts
Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with investigators and teams that require statistical input

REQUIREMENTS

Master's or doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field
Demonstrated ability on graduate projects or doctoral studies
Programming experience with SAS, R, and/or STATA (proficiency with multiple statistical programs preferred)
Analysis of large administrative database;
Interest in selflearning and problemsolving and ability to work rigorously in a team environment
Knowledge of written/spoken English, as well as a working knowledge of French or the willingness to complete an introductory French course

WORKING CONDITIONS

Fulltime position (35 hours/week)
Salary scale from 27,08$ à 47,98$ according to experience;
Integration within the biostatistical team at the MHICC while being a member of the MHI arrhythmia research team
Other conditions according to standards in force
