ABOUT THE POSITION

RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Leadership/Motivation:Responsible for motivating and involving employees in improving processes through creativity, problem solving and learning. Solicit employees' ideas for improvement and create a work environment where employees are encouraged to take risks and share their ideas for improvement.

Continuous Improvement:work towards continuous improvement in policies and procedures for manufacturing. Reduce cost/waste & implement 5S Initiatives throughout the facility. Lead and participate in Kaizen events.

Supervise: Plan, staff, train, and supervise all assigned work unit activities based on the production schedule. Responsible for the day-to-day production coordination of the facility.

Quality Assurance:Ensure the team's performance and accountability to zero defects. Identify and solve department problems that cause poor quality. Partner with customer service to ensure the identification of quality issues and their root causes, as well as, design and implement solutions. Must also manage and monitor compliance to ISO 9001:2008 certification.

Reliability:Ensure 100% on-time delivery of quality products to the customer.

Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and visitors. Keep health and safety practices up to date.

Inventory management:balance inventory needs and requirements with the need to minimize costs resulting from obtaining and holding inventory. Ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained at all times.

SOPs: Create, implement and manage standard operating procedures for different positions throughout the facility. Ensure SOP's are being followed and update and revise as needed.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of the furniture/woodworking industry and company operations are an asset.
  • 10+ years experience in manufacturing.
  • 5+ years experience in production management or supervision
  • 5+ years experience in implementing 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and the ability to pick up new software quickly
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills
  • Technical or engineering degree is an asset.
  • Proficient in ISO quality systems fundamentals and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and procedures

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Experience:


  • Manufacturing: 5 years (preferred)
  • Lean manufacturing: 5 years (preferred)
  • Supervising: 5 years (required)
