Department Overview

  • The Personal Banking Finance team supports the Personal Banking Product group within the Canadian Personal Bank. The team supports development and achievement of Personal Banking financial and strategic objectives by providing Business performance analysis, Planning and forecasting support, and advice to business leaders
  • Produce financial and business insights and recommendations that enhance short and longterm economic value for the business
  • Maintain industry, external & internal business awareness, recognizing & anticipating trends, identifying issues & opportunities, and recommending actions to senior management
  • Reporting to the Senior manager of MIS Finance, the Manager role supports the development and achievement of MIS financial and strategic objectives. The role requires excellence in a management reporting environment, with particular focus on valueadd reporting of results, forecast, plan, business cases and business partner decision support.
  • This role is also inclusive of providing endtoend project financial support such as: development of business case financials; monthly review of actual and forecasts against plan, facilitating project planning and support in monthend reporting for the portfolio; providing insightful reporting and analysis and reviewing and challenging projects
  • The role has a number of accountabilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead end-to-end and provide oversight for the reporting, forecasting, and management of financials. Ensure the timely delivery of value-add monthly reporting and forecast materials, including presenting and responding to questions
  • Provide critical decisionmaking support to the business on key projects and initiatives, ensuring the appropriate financial and accounting considerations are represented, and engaging other stakeholders (e.g., Chiefs APA, FinOps, TBSM, Risk Management, and other segment Finance teams) as required
  • Work with Business Sponsors and Project Managers to develop and review business case financials. The incumbent will provide financial expertise and oversight to ensure financial and accounting standards are followed and properly reflected in the business case
  • Manage financial aspects of project tracking and reporting for the assigned projects, ensuring alignment to annual fiscal budget
  • Conduct a monthly review of financial results relative to key benchmarks including quarterly and yearly Project Plans and Forecasts
  • Provide input to other partner finance teams as required for monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting and annual planning.
  • Participate in both the annual business plan and financial forecast cycles.
  • Support financial / strategic portfolio analysis & insight for various senior executive/management teams. This requires the consolidation of data from various financial sources and the ability to transform financial data into meaningful and actionable recommendations
  • Provide thought leadership and drive change by improving project data governance & process, building stronger relationships with key business partners and the development of new valueadded project analytics
  • Provide thought leadership and support to other team members, including leading endtoend reporting and forecasting/plan cycles, and adhoc initiatives & strategic analysis
  • Participate in developing and implementing new financial models, methodologies, and frameworks to support ongoing reporting, audit and analysis for the business
  • Conduct analysis on monthly results and provide value add analysis and advice
  • Conduct the necessary analysis to develop options and offer well supported recommendations to the business leadership. This includes strong written and inperson presentation skills
  • Collaborate closely with partners across Finance and other businesses in Canadian Personal Banking to draw upon organizational resources to deliver results
  • Provide leadership and support to the CPB Finance teams, fostering a positive and rewarding work environment
  • Participate fully as a member of the team, supporting a positive work environment

Job Requirements

  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism and a passion for the business that delivers results.
  • Prior experience in finance & management reporting & analysis is beneficial, but not required
Process-oriented with a focus on development, improvement/enhancement and transparency

  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks, be flexible and adapt well to changing priorities and adhoc requests in an environment with tight deadlines
