Mission:


The Environmental Monitor is responsible for the monitoring and implementing of the project environmental plan at both the field and documentary level, performing audits, ensuring compliance and making recommendations as necessary.

They may also assist with regulatory permits and reporting as required by project needs and in training of personnel in the respectful stewardship of completing the construction project with mínimal impact to wildlife and biology.


Profile:


  • B.Sc. or technical diploma in biology, forestry, agriculture, environmental science, or related similar discipline
  • Registered or eligible to be registered in a related professional association in Alberta (e.g. Alberta Society of Professional Biologists, Alberta Institute of Agrologists, Eco Canada), or certified as a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control by the Erosion and Sediment Control Association of Canada; and
  • Two years' experience in construction monitoring and environmental compliance.
  • Current knowledge of Alberta environmental laws, regulations, policies, and permitting requirements
  • Current knowledge of City of Edmonton environmental policies
  • Current knowledge ISO 14001:2015 standard for environmental management systems
  • Detail oriented with solid organizational and timemanagement skills
  • Ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision
  • Flexible on work schedule and ability to work days or nights in accordance with construction activities
  • Ability to calibrate, maintain and organize monitoring equipment
