DURATION OF PROGRAM: 5 weeks, July 2 to August 5, 2023

(Pre-program staff training from June 28-June 30, 2023)


ILSC Education Group is seeking an experienced, qualified and dynamic leader to take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of our Montreal Residential Juniors Camp program at McGill.

Our Juniors programs combine academics, accommodation and activities for our young students ages 13 to 17.

The Juniors Camp Program Manager at McGill is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with these separate departments to ensure our students receive a cohesive, quality summer program experience.

This is a key management role. The Juniors Camp Program Manager role is a full-time, fixed term position. Due to the nature of the work, your hours may vary and may be irregular. The Residential Juniors Program Manager is required to live on-site at the residence. Accommodation and meals are included during this summer post.


The schedule timeline and hourly requirements are as follows:

  • Full time hours on-site at McGill will begin on June 28, 2023, until August 5, 202
  • Pre-program staff training at McGill will take place from June 28, 2023, to June 30, 202
  • Your weekly work schedule will consist of six consecutive days of work, followed by one full day off per week
  • Remuneration is $1050/week

Duties and Responsibilities
The job duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Recruitment

  • In collaboration with the Montreal Juniors Program Manager and the Activities Coordinator, will participate in the interviewing and hiring of the activity leaders for the Montreal Residential Juniors Program at McGill
  • Support recruitment and training of Juniors and Groups related staff as required

Program Set-up and Closure

  • Unpack and pack all program materials and resources at the beginning and end of the program and monitor usage, reporting any missing or damaged materials.
  • Conduct preprogram and postprogram damage inventory with school/university authorities
  • Ensure that the McGill rooms and facilities are set up and prepared for the staff and students' arrival, including signage, first day transfers and staff rosters
  • In advance of summer program start date and, in collaboration with all departments, inventory program and curriculum materials for the Residential Juniors Program at McGill such as Tshirts for students and staff, bus transportation cards, SIM cards if required, lanyards etc.
  • In collaboration with the Montreal Juniors Program Manager, assist in preparations and support activity coordinator with activity bookings for the Montreal Juniors Program including obtaining quotes, creating/updating reservations and managing the budgeting and invoicing of these bookings
  • In collaboration with the Montreal Juniors Program Manager, create and manage policies, procedures, and support systems for the Residential Juniors Program at McGill

Residence Accommodations

  • Liaise with the McGill university representative to ensure open and frequent communication and that residence accommodation standards are maintained, particularly in areas such as food quality and cleaning
  • Oversee collection of damage deposits, passports, fees, and flight tickets
  • Oversee and coordinate all transport arrangements and the departures of students on weekends, checking beds and facilities, collecting keys as appropriate, escorting students etc.
  • Produce accurate reports for school/university, Montreal Juniors Program Manager and Director of Juniors Programs on meals, beds, classroom usage, and any or all incidents and damages
  • Supervise centre banking arrangements and ensure safe transfer and storage of all finances and documents
  • Maintain accurate financial accounting records for the program, monitoring expenditures to ensure expenses are within budget, ensuring studentteacher ratios are respected, tracking leisure costs, managing petty cash, and itemizing expenditures at the end of the program
  • Liaise with school/university staff for use of additional facilities, following approval from Montreal Juniors Program Manager and Director of Junior Programs

Student and Staff Supervision and Support

  • Coordinate and lead the preprogram staff orientation with the support of the Montreal Juniors Program Manager and the Activity Coordinator, ensuring that all team members have a clear understanding of the Juniors summer program at McGill, their roles, and responsibilities, and that all staffing schedules have been clearly outlined and shared with staff
  • Welcome students on the first day, introducing the staff and explaining the academic, social and welfare responsibilities of each Juniors program staff member
  • Ensure students understand school rules, disciplinary procedures, and offlimit areas.
