Beyond is looking for a MPD Field Supervisor to join our offshore international team.


This position is the first point of contact with key personnel on location, such as Company Men and Drillers, and responsible for relaying vital information regarding customer service requirements and expectations from the field site location to Beyond's Project Manager, customer's operations team and rig onshore MPD engineer.


Key Responsibilities


MPD Supervisor to participate and be actively involved with the various project phases keeping track of lessons learnt, monitor and close out action items, generate MPD after action reviews, provide daily and end of well reports in timely fashion.


Pre-Deployment Phase

  • Review of the MPD program and thirdparty MPD supplier's manuals and procedures
  • Assist with written work instructions
  • Be actively involved in the MPD HAZOP
  • Assist and make recommendation with the development of the MPD operations matrix which is to be updated on a daily basis (if required) during operations
  • On behalf of the customer, witness the FAT's of thirdparty supplied equipment
  • Active participation during MPD training
  • Evaluate and where necessary provide advice on Rig
  • MPD supplier integration plans

Installation & Drilling Phases

  • Ensures that thirdparty supplied MPD equipment prejob preparations are completed and ready for operations
  • Screening of rig and thirdparty personnel competence
  • Evaluate SIT program and witness overall commissioning activities of the MPD system
  • Be an active witness to verify and ensure that MPD installation is performed in a safe and orderly manner
  • Deliver MPD training to staff onboard the rig while providing 24/7 MPD operations supervision
  • Generate daily reports including forward MPD plans
  • Involvement in the JSA/toolbox talk prior to operations
  • Monitor ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting for repair of MPD equipment
  • Monitor equipment, spares, consumables mobilization to field locations and ensure that critical spares levels are maintained onsite to minimize any downtime / NPT
  • Be the main point of contact with customer on site, maintaining professional relationships with all stakeholders on the rig, ongoing job status communication and demonstrating and explaining Managed Pressure Drilling technology and process when required
  • Monitor all MPD field tests
  • Recommend and or review new approaches and/or specifications for equipment, software and procedures
  • While liaising with the rig onshore MPD Engineer, assist with managing optimum pressure control to achieve drilling objectives
  • Monitor MPD field crew rotational schedules ensuring competent coverage is maintained throughout the MPD life cycle of the well
  • Monitor and report on MPD engineering issues at the worksite
  • Monitor basic maintenance, repair and troubleshooting at the worksite
  • Monitor and ensure that thirdparty supplied MPD equipment is properly serviced, maintained, and stored at the completion of each job and that the equipment is kept in serviceable condition

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of MPD/UBD Operations Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years MPD Supervisory Experience
  • Technically competent in MPD Operations and Equipment
  • Advanced understanding of mechanics and hydraulics
  • Basic understanding of electronics and control systems
  • Sufficient experience on MPD software/choke control of other systems
  • Familiar with drilling issues as they relate to drilling velocity to clean a well
  • Knowledge of slinging and lifting overhead loads
  • Understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Flow Systems
  • Complete and pass well control training as per customer's requirements
  • Familiar with regulatory code and safety policy
  • Competent with Microsoft Office products
  • Selfdirected and demonstrate sound decision making
  • Excellent written and oral skills must be capable of communicating with both technical and nontechnical personnel at field and office level

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field

This is a field position that works on a rotational/on-call schedule with typical shift lengths of 12 hours.

This position will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and will be required to travel away from home to remote work locations.
