  • Overview
  • The Mill Helper at the Woodstock quarry site, performs a combination of tasks ranging from housekeeping activities, operation of fixed and mobile equipment used in the production of aggregates as well as routine maintenance and repairs as directed.
Competitive wages with benefits, pension plan and pay increase after 3 months. This position may require split shifts, overtime and occasional weekends when required.- Responsibilities
Safety:

  • Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, JHSC, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of "zero" safety incidents.
  • Promotes safety policies, processes and review procedures to ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure that the plant and surrounding site is kept safe, presentable, and functional. Understanding Near Miss and HI process, MVA's, FA's, MI's, LTI's, Daily Safety Huddles, Risk Assessments, Confined Space and WAH permits

Equipment:


  • Complete cleanup assignments using a skid steer and/or handheld tools; working safely around moving and/or rotating equipment while using the required personal protective safety equipment.
  • Perform preoperational checks and operate assigned mobile equipment as trained and directed.

Environmental Management:


  • Ensure that site meets or exceeds all Lafarge and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Be aware of environmentally sensitive areas and be alert to correct environmental problems that may develop in the assigned work area.
  • Capable of working in diverse indoor/outdoor environments, which would include: dust, hot, cold, and noise.

Maintenance:


  • Work in a team environment with other coworkers, supervisors and managers.
  • Work in a team environment with other coworkers, supervisors and managers.
  • Perform daily inspections as part of our preventative maintenance program.
  • Assist in repairing broken or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Assist with plant repairs as needed.
  • Work at heights when required.

Other:


  • Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.\

Dependability

  • Follow instructions, work within a team setting and respond to Supervisor's direction.

Safety Profile:


  • Comply with OHSA and all of its applicable regulations.
  • Wear all Personal Protective equipment as required.
  • Strict compliance with Lafarge Canada safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Report all incidents, near misses and safety hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Follow Lockout/Tag out/Try out procedures.
  • Emergency response plan awareness.
  • Qualifications
    Education & Work Experience:
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • Industrial/Mining plant operational experience
  • Heavy equipment operation experience an asset
  • Basic welding and fitting is preferred but not required.

Knowledge & Skills:


  • Specific mobile equipment training

  • Surface Miner training
