Calling all volunteers - West Park Healthcare Centre

West Park Healthcare Centre helps patients get their lives back by providing inpatient, outpatient and outreach services in specialized rehabilitative and complex care after a life-altering illness or injury such as lung disease, amputation, stroke, and traumatic musculoskeletal injuries.

By 2023, West Park's 27-acre site will be transformed into an integrated campus of care, including a new hospital building and additional community supports such as assisted living for persons with disabilities and seniors.

This transformation enables the Centre to evolve its rehabilitative programs and strengthen links to community-based services to meet the future healthcare needs of our local community and the province.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Are you interested in video games? Are you a gamer? Then this is for you

Volunteers will be orientated on how to use adapted gaming equipment which supports patients with physical disabilities to be able to video game on conventional gaming consoles (Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4).

Each of our patient participants have an individualized set up to enable them to play video games of their choosing.

Come and enjoy your favorite video games with our patients

Shift: 4 month commitment is required - one shift per week

Shifts available:
Tuesdays 10am to 12pm.

Traits Required:

Mature, friendly and personable individual who is able to socialize with patients with physical, cognitive and/or communication impairment
Comfortable with interacting/socializing with others individually or in a group setting
