About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Health Services Director, the Health Services Manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of services and daily operations of people-centered programs within Nova Scotia Health.

This includes Medicine, Oncology and Gynecology.


Responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and direction for VG 5A to ensure the goals and objectives are continually met
  • Promoting and emphasizing peoplecentred care in partnership with the patient, family, and health care team
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining an active human resource plan including recruitment, selection, interviewing and hiring
  • Preparing and analyzing all relevant financial and clinical data, reports trends and identifies where corrective action is required for budget variances, implements changes as required and evaluates the effectiveness of the changes
  • Establishing and maintaining creative and efficient communication processes across clinical teams, geographically different sites, other disciplines, and other stakeholders within NSH as required
  • Managing process improvements for quality patient care and enhancing capacity
  • Representing their discipline or service/program by active and effective participation in meetings and on committee
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership that supports excellence in service delivery, and collaboration with other program areas.
  • Monitoring clinical service delivery on a daytoday basis to ensure service provision is in accordance with Nova Scotia Health's policies and procedures and is compliant with evidencebased practice, provincial standards and accreditation requirements.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a health related discipline
  • Master's degree an asset
  • Must be registered with the relevant health discipline college/association
  • Five to seven years of relevant clinical experience
  • Previous leadership/management experience an asset
  • Experience and expertise in process planning and redesign work
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues and trends impacting the publicly funded health care system, nationally and internationally
  • Requires a high level of sound judgment, initiative, and selfdirection
  • Demonstrates high degrees of independent decision making, motivation, creativity, flexibility, adaptability, and change management knowledge
  • Proven and highly developed leadership skills including vision, self awareness, relationship and team building skills, and communication skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
