    SCHOOL AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS

    SUPPORT OFFICER

    Full-Time - 35 Hours per week - 12 Month Position (1.0 FTE)

    Start Date: June 10, 24; Duration: Permanent

    The School and Business Operations Officer is accountable to the Manager of Financial Services and is responsible to provide leadership, resource support, guidance/counsel and training with respect to school and central office operations and to provide indirect supervision to school secretaries.

    Given the central nature of Business Services, it is imperative the School and Business Operations Officer work in collaboration and cooperation with schools and other departments to build and execute oversight mechanisms for the school and business operations of the Board to make certain that efficient and effective practices are active

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent.
    • Minimum of three (3) years business experience with advanced knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and developing and implementing best practices for improved efficiencies - preferably in an educational setting.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills with experience in the effective management of multiple projects and demonstrated ability to successfully complete tasks.
    • Demonstrate personal initiative, sound judgement, strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills with the ability to function effectively and collaboratively with various employee groups.
    • Strong analytical skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Advanced understanding and skill in use of financial information (preferably School Cash Online and K212) and other applications (Excel, Access, Power Point, Word, etc.).
    • Valid driver license and vehicle.

    KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Provide excellent customer service to school administration, school office, and business operations staff.
    • Collaborate with various business departments (Financial Services, Information Technology Services, Facility Services, Procurement Services, and Human Resource Services) and coordinate training as required.
    • Train and assist administrators and secretaries with the financial systems used by the Board as well as with the implementation of financial policies and procedures.
    • Review business operations, polices, and procedures at schools (school generated funds, budgets, and enrolment) and make recommendations to administrators and secretaries for improvement.
    • Provide counsel and support to schools facing an internal or external audit.
    • Manage school finance and ERP system access, security profiles and user authority limits.
    • Support the implementation of new school operations initiatives and facilitate communication between Board office and schools.
    • Provide assistance to Financial Services in the financial reporting process, including year-end audit support, as required.
    • Business administration of the Board's International Education Program, including assisting schools with admission and documentation requirements.
    • Oversee the Board's Community Use of Schools, with clerical support from Facility Services, including policy implementation, liaising with Parishes and community groups, training, and reporting requirements.
    • Administer the Board's Ancillary contract management and outreach with daycares, Parishes, joint use agreements, and other service providers.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Financial Services.

We are located approximately one hour west of Toronto, one hour east of London and one hour south of Kitchener-Waterloo.
