CIO IT Project Management Office in the role of
-
Project Control Officer. This position is located out of our downtown Toronto office with a hybrid work-from-home option. Some travel may be required.
  • Reporting to the Section Head, CIO PMO, Project Controls, the Project Controls Officer will support IT Project Managers. In this role, you will be required to understand schedules, finances, forecasting, monthend requirements, various IT systems, and general project management knowledge areas.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement, and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Strength in understanding, executing, and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude under minimum required supervision.
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • Assist Project Managers with entering budgets, timephasing, monthend forecasting, and Earned Value (EV) calculation.
  • Perform cost management for projects in accordance with OPG's project management governance.
  • Monitor and provide guidance on monthend project tasks.
  • Ensure approved change control processes are followed.
  • Support project financial closeout process.
  • Assist with Project Managers with system troubleshooting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and issue timely project status reports, as required.
  • Good organization and leadership skills; a selfstarter who can work both independently and in a team environment that is dedicated to project excellence and best practices.
  • Have a strong interest in fastpaced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and selfmotivation are assets.
  • Other duties as required.

EDUCATION

  • University degree in Business Administration or Finance.
  • Project Management Professional designation is considered an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 to 8 years of specific experience with project controls tasks.
  • Experience with IT project management within a project management support capacity, specifically related to controls principles, methods, concepts, and techniques

Examples include:

understanding month-end schedules and requirements, budgeting, forecasting, cost phasing, assisting with project documentation, troubleshooting, and general project management knowledge areas.


  • Strong command of corporate financial processes.
  • Proven track record on delivering results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills who can maintain productive relationships and strong partnerships across business units and among a wide variety stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively.
  • Highly collaborative and an effective team player.
  • Confident, energetic, selfmotivated individual that takes initiative and has a strong level of passion to support project managers with IT projects.
  • Ability to navigate organization and technical support systems to deliver results and work in crossfunctional teams.
  • Experience with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office environments.
  • Experience using Asset Suite, EBX, EcoSys, Power BI, Excel, Microsoft Project, or Primavera P6 systems is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
