Position
This project is an Interdisciplinary Chronic Disease Collaboration (ICDC) Team initiative.

One of the key objectives of the ICDC is to improve access to specialist kidney care in Alberta through the use of eHealth technologies, such as the electronic referral (e-Referral) and consultation (e-Consult).

An eConsult involves a Primary Care provider (PCP) communicating with a specialist via a secured internet portal (The Alberta Provincial

EMR:
Netcare).

The purpose of this initiative is to facilitate easier referral, faster access to specialist kidney care, and more comprehensive and timely feedback to family doctors and other care providers.

In partnership with care providers and policymakers in provincial renal programs in Alberta, we are planning a wide implementation of this system across the province.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for engaging with primary care physicians in Alberta for the adoption of e-referral for nephrology consultations.

The Coordinator will assist physicians on how to optimize the resources available to them within the eReferral system as well as work with health service providers across the healthcare system in developing effective strategies for informing and engaging physicians about eReferral and e-Consult.
