OVERVIEW

  • The Labour Relations Advisor is the first point of contact for all labour and employee relations matters that arise at Parq Vancouver. Key responsibilities in this role are to provide guidance on interpretation of the collective agreement, advising managers on the performance management process, and providing guidance on employee accommodation requests. The Labour Relations Advisor investigates employee complaints, leads investigations into allegations of employee misconduct, and resolves disputes in the workplace.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act in an advisory capacity to management with the early identification and resolution of employee relations issues
  • Promote, encourage and foster a positive and cooperative Labour Relations environment amongst Union representatives, management and employee groups
  • Stay up to date with legislation and policy changes that impact employee and labour relations
  • Responsible for the full grievance process, including responses and resolution of disputes
  • Manage the company's performance and attendance management processes and make recommendations on employee performance management
  • Provide training, as needed, in areas of performance management, bullying & harassment, and other policies related to employee & labour relations
  • Provide professional and exceptional customer service in accordance with established company standards
  • Host quarterly labour/management meetings with Union representatives
  • Complete other projects/duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Labour Relations role
  • Formal Human Resources training, such as a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree, is required (or other related education, such law or industrial relations)
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters tactfully
  • Thorough knowledge of employmentrelated laws and regulations
  • Experience working with a HRIS system, such as ADP Workforce Now or equivalent is an asset

CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to to obtain valid GPEB Registration
  • Ability to complete BCLC Certifications
  • Serving it Right Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 20lbs
  • Required to sit, stand and walk during working hours
