Course description:

The meaning, purposes and sources of interpersonal violence, including an examination of debates over defining and documenting violence, and a review of the research on the relationships between illegitimate, interpersonal violence and state-approved or state-initiated violence.

Cultural, social and individual correlates of interpersonal violence; the violence of the law; and how violence is justified and denied.

Minimum qualifications:
Ph.
D. in Criminology.


Preferred qualifications:
Recent teaching experience preferred in a similar course.


Description of duties:

The design, preparation and delivery of course content in-class, including teaching lectures or seminars; creation of courseware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the marking and grading of student work, and the submission of grades to the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies in accordance with established policies and procedures; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside scheduled classroom hours.
