"General Accountability:
- Acting as counsel to the TTC with a primary focus on labour & employment, human rights and safety related matters
Key Job Functions:
- Daytoday handling, including advocacy, of labour grievances, human rights and employment litigation matters
- Representing the TTC as legal counsel at labour arbitrations, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and at Court.
- Reviewing evidence gathered by various TTC Departments
- Gathering required evidence and interviewing potential witnesses for a case
- Drafting facta, motion records, appeal records and other court and tribunal documents
- Providing daytoday guidance and opinions on various labour & employment, human rights and safety related matters
- Ensuring timely reporting of performance results and/or sensitive issues to the Associate General Counsel
- Participation in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program
- Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Ensures the needs of employees and customers are accommodated in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

Education and Experience: - You must have a Bachelor of Laws degree or a Juris Doctorate and must be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario
- You are a Labour & Employment and Human Rights Lawyer with a minimum 3 years of labour & employment and/or human rights experience gained at an inhouse legal department or major law firm
Additional Requirements:
- Strong understanding of labour arbitration, workers' compensation, occupational health and safety, and the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as the preparation of related documentation
- Solid experience in legal work related to labour arbitration, employment, WSIAT and/or human rights matters
- Thorough familiarity with research methods and techniques
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Sound judgment, strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
