Description

As AV Technical Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring COG external events run like clockwork, with optimal use of technology and equipment to provide participants with the best possible participant experience.

This helps COG deliver its mandate by providing forums for international members and stakeholders where they can effectively collaborate and enrich nuclear industry knowledge.

Your understanding of quality management of these events will build COG's strong reputation and drive demand for our programs.


This role reports directly to the Manager, Information Technology and CIO and is responsible for performing a variety of technical support assignments for events, conferences & meetings, requiring knowledge of established conferencing technologies and audio/visual equipment principles.


If you are a strong planner and can trouble-shoot and solve technical problems under pressure, with a solid knowledge of the latest Conference AV hardware and software, this role will be a great opportunity for you.

The ability to set-up and test conference equipment - both on-site and virtual - combined with a talent for photography and social media marketing, will allow you to make a strong contribution to our team.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting technology support technician including onsite events, virtual event support tech, offsite events (including hybrid technologies)
  • Logistics & equipment transportation including arranging transportation for equipment from/to the COG office, audio/visual equipment setup & testing, hybrid mobile kit setup & testing, offsite conference center networking (Wired, Wi-Fi) configuration & support
  • Marketing photography including event photography and staff photography for newsletters, promotional materials, annual reports, and website content
  • Marketing videography including hybrid workshop videography, inperson event videography, training videography, livestreaming event planning & execution
  • Overall Equipment Inventory and Maintenance & Support
  • Maintains equipment storage in an organized and efficient manner
  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for scheduling all meeting resources
  • Provides support and problem resolution for meeting participants & facilitators
  • Uses judgment in selecting among authorized procedures and seeks assistance when unanticipated problems arise
  • Maintains current knowledge with respect to relevant stateoftheart technology, equipment, and/or systems related to conferencing solutions
  • Performs miscellaneous jobrelated duties as assigned

Requirements:


  • Postsecondary degree in related field (Computer/AV technology)
  • At least 2 years of experience with event web/video conferencing solutions, digital audio interfaces, and audio engineering.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Audio/Visual technologies, such as PA equipment, Microphones, Digital Audio Interfaces, DSLR Cameras, Video Cameras, PTZ Cameras, Projectors & associated cabling
  • Knowledge of Windows, MAC OSX, Office 365, and event management platforms (such as Pheedloop CVENT, Whova)
  • Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, & Zoom conferencing technologies (live streaming technologies are a plus)
  • Knowledge of Video Endpoints, conferencing peripherals (such as USB Cameras/Microphones) & display technologies
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Physical ability to travel to locations and transport equipment at remote sites
  • Ability to troubleshoot A/V connection problems and coordinate hardware and/or software solutions
  • Ability to communicate with and interpret the operational requirements of end users
  • Ability to work in a team environment and mentor others
  • Knowledge of new developments, trends, and standards in hardware and software related to conferencing technologies

Schedule:

COG complies with all provincial COVID guidelines and directives. Masks are currently not required in the office but masking is encouraged especially in common areas.
