Homelessness Manager


Brief Overview:


Under the direction of the Homelessness Manager, the CA Intake and Assessment Coordinator will work together with the Coordinated Access Coordinators to coordinate and perform intakes and assessments for people experiencing housing insecurities.

This role works directly with the vulnerable population and provides a deep understanding of housing insecurities and homelessness in Saskatchewan.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Conduct intakes, assessments and referrals for people obtaining Coordinated Access.
  • Assess and process prospective clients using program assessment measures, respecting client's dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Monitor, manage and report of the program intake and assessment status.
  • Collaborate with Reaching Home subprojects to ensure people requiring homes are referred to the appropriate organization and housing option.
  • Empower clients by educating them about their rights and responsibilities.
  • Manage the By-Names List of clients in Saskatoon in the HIFIS database.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory list of available housing options.
  • Work collaboratively with the HIFIS lead at SHIP, or SHIP's designate, and the Community Capacity and Innovative working group.
  • Develop effective and collaborative working relationships and partnerships with community agencies and stakeholders.
  • Generate reporting framework and write reports on Coordinated Access.
  • Stay current with evolving practices and emerging issues that have the potential to affect clients experiencing housing insecurities and homelessness.
  • As a housing team member, contribute to the creation and continued improvement of data collection processes and strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation and continued improvement of strategies and policies to Coordinate Access to advance the goals and objectives of the program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Homelessness Manager or the Director of Social Infrastructure.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or any other Human Services related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Human Services with the vulnerable population.
  • 2 years of Data entry and reporting.
  • Experience implementing trauma informed care and harm reductive practices.
  • Experience working in mental health and addiction services is an asset.
  • Experience building relationships with community members and community agencies.
  • Ability to communicate in Indigenous languages is considered an asset.

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Extensive knowledge of available community resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and needs of vulnerable citizens.
  • Understanding of the factors which contribute to homelessness or risk of homelessness.
  • Ability to demonstrate a compassionate, solution focused, and client centered approach.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problemsolving, and reporting skills.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Experience in data management.
  • Ability to remain calm and address clients with patience and a caring approach.
  • Creative problem solving, good organizational, administrative, and multitasking abilities.
  • Understanding of legislation, regulations, standards, and policies.

Additional Requirements:


  • A valid Saskatchewan driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to our downtown location at 310 20th St E Saskatoon would be required.
