About the Position:


The Edmonton EXPO Centre is looking for an Executive Chef who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of our culinary team, retail food outlets and the stewarding department.

Working closely with an innovative Food and Beverage team, they will create experiences and cuisine that exceed guest expectations and provide strong leadership while demonstrating our core values.


  • Coaching and managing culinary personnel, providing professional development objectives.
  • Scheduling and coordination of all related culinary activities.
  • Maximizing and monitoring productivity, moral, and engagement of all associates.
  • Responsible for the sustainability of Food and Beverage team.
  • Being the source of innovative ideas for the creation and use in menus, recipes, dishes, display ware and buffet presentation that showcase our strong attention to detail and ensure consistency and quality.
  • Creation of custom menus for clients and Chef's table experience
  • Forecasting food consumption specific to planned events and requisitions or purchases required products
  • Developing culinary budgets; and ensure adjustment to forecasts are made based on event bookings.
  • Monitoring food, payroll, and operating expenses to ensure meeting of financial plan by margin or dollar value is achieved. Determine variances implementing corrective action.
  • Proposing new menus and initiatives to drive additional revenue.
  • Maintaining strong cooperational working relationship with other departments.
  • Communicating effectively with Event Manager and banquet team regarding upcoming events and special requirements.
  • Ensure unity in focus between BOH and FOH teams to provide memorable presentations.
  • Focus on process and menu improvement by obtaining feedback from clients and guests
  • Promote the services of the Edmonton EXPO Centre to contribute to Edmonton's image and reputation goals.
  • Model and promote Explore Edmonton's Corporation values and the EXPO Centre service values.
  • Ensure the EXPO Centre's service, safety, sustainability, productivity, and community support brand standards are maintained to the highest quality.
  • Stay wellinformed of current developments and trends relevant to your profession including, but not limited to, determining new prospective stakeholders and clients in Alberta, delivering required staff training, and shaping best practices in client and employee management.
  • Ensure full compliance within all food production and service areas to EXPO Centre Health and Safety Policies and Alberta Health Services legislation.
  • Support and promote a Safe and Healthy work environment to clients, guests, contractors, and employees.
  • Ensure daily walkthroughs and checklists are being completed in culinary production and service areas.
  • Adhere to AGLC, OH&S, and Fire Marshall Codes
  • Ensure events comply with EXPO's health and Safety Standards
  • Understand and follow EXPO Centre's Health and Safety Standards
  • Postsecondary education, with a degree in culinary or hospitality management, preferred.
  • Red Seal Certificate is required, and Chef de Cuisine certification is considered an added asset.
  • 5 years experience as an Executive Chef
  • 710 years' high volume kitchen management and banquet operational experience
  • Excellent
