Position Summary
The Academic Manager of Healthcare Programs is responsible for the daily management of the Medical Laboratory Assistant ( MLA ), Personal Support Worker, Nursing and Nursing-related Programs including the BScN program (Regional BScN, Lakehead University and Confederation College collaborative program, as well as standalone BScN and PSW -PN-BScN bridging future programs), and the Practical Nursing program regardless of location, time, and delivery format.
The incumbent is responsible for recruitment, assigning workloads, and managing the faculty/support for these programs.Duties will also include SWF assignment of full-time faculty within the portfolio; managing student and faculty complaints and managing projects within the portfolio as assigned by the Dean/Associate Dean (AD) (including new program development, program renewal, new business development, contract negotiations and contract training).
The Academic Manager provides broad academic leadership in curriculum development, design and evaluation, applied scholarship and experiential learning to meet the needs of the diverse student population.
The incumbent sits on relevant internal or external committees as the administrative representative as designated by the AD/Dean and works with the AD/Dean to monitor and set departmental budgets and to identify and rectify variances:supporting college-wide initiatives by supporting the academic leadership within the School of Health, Negahneewin, and Community Services.

Post graduate degree (e.g. Masters) or equivalent
Specific course(s), certification, qualification, formal training or accreditation required for the position
Additional Requirements
Team building, communications, decision-making, planning skills, conflict resolution and leadership, contract negotiation, project management, customer service and research software familiarity.
Current and Clear Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Minimum of five (5) years
