Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview:
Operates ultrasound equipment to produce high quality sonograms for diagnostic purposes under the direction of the Radiologist. Functions as an independent self-directed professional in the delivery of all ultrasound procedures.
Works within the framework of the American Society of Registered Diagnostic Sonographers Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and the Seven Oaks General Hospital's Vision, Mission, Values, policies and procedures.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years experience as a sonographer is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):
- Must be a graduate from a recognized School of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Must have and maintain registration in good standing with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.) and must have certification in Abdominal and Obstetrics/Gynaecological.
- Maintains registry status by obtaining a minimum 30 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and be able to work cooperatively and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
- Capable of working with minimum supervision and guidance.
- Flexibility and independence in planning work.
- Good physical and mental health is imperative to meet the demands of the position.
Physical Requirements:
- General conditions normally found in a Diagnostic Imaging Service in a community hospital.
- Must be able to withstand extensive standing and walking and will be required to lift and transfer patients in a safe manner.
- May be required to work flexible hours and/or overtime as required to meet the needs of the department.
Please note that an employee is not permitted to hold two or more positions in Shared Health that combine to equal more than 1.0 FTE.
